The Senior Marine Engineer is responsible for supporting the Construction Manager and assuming full accountability for FPSO donor vessel construction, conversion, and integration activities in their absence. The role serves as the key link between engineering and shipyard execution, leading comprehensive design reviews of structural, piping, marine, and outfitting deliverables to ensure construction proceeds without design-related rework, variations, delays, or cost overruns. The incumbent coordinates closely with engineering teams, shipyards, subcontractors, classification societies, and project stakeholders, while overseeing vessel preparation activities such as cleaning for hot work, stagger testing, UTM inspections, and belt surveys. The position also drives MTO optimization through design improvements and FEA analysis, leads module lifting and clash detection reviews from the 60% and 90% model stages, manages all marine and topsides integration interfaces, monitors construction progress and material quantities, and provides timely updates on risks, cost impacts, and schedule deviations to project leadership. Extensive site presence at shipyards and periodic travel to engineering offices, fabrication yards, vendor facilities, and offshore locations are expected. Design Review & Engineering Interface Lead and coordinate design reviews of all engineering packages issued for construction, including hull structural modifications, outfitting, marine systems, piping, and mechanical installations. Proactively identify design gaps, ambiguities, or constructability issues that could generate shipyard Variation Orders (VOs) and drive resolution with the Engineering Manager and discipline leads before drawings are issued to shipyard. Track comments, responses, and close-out status, ensuring all open items are resolved within agreed timelines. Serve as the primary construction interface for the Engineering team, translating design intent into shipyard-executable packages and minimising change at source. Review and comment on Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), welding procedures, coating specifications, and outfitting drawings to ensure alignment with Classification Society rules, Flag State requirements, and PTTEP/ PETRONAS technical standards. Suggest Hold points for packages to detail design partners and Engineering team – to avoid variations due to wrong package interfaces. Idea is to proceed with construction with caution, so that the main and sub routes shall be constructed; whereas the interface with packages can be released at maturity. Construction Management & Deputising Deputy to the Construction Manager in all day-to-day construction activities at the RLEC and Integration shipyard, including shipyard interface, progress monitoring, manpower coordination, and subcontractor management. Assume full accountability and authority of the Construction Manager in their absence, including client and contractor interfaces, approvals, and HSE responsibilities on site. Monitor and control construction progress against the approved baseline schedule; raise early warnings on potential delays and propose corrective actions. Review and manage shipyard Variation Order (VO) submissions, ensuring all VOs are substantiated, challenged where appropriate, and resolved in a timely manner in coordination with the Project Manager and Commercial team. Oversee the construction completion punch-list system, ensuring systematic tracking and close-out of all outstanding items prior to Mechanical Completion. Participate in daily and weekly progress meetings with shipyard management; prepare and present progress reports to the Project Manager and client representatives as required. Coordinate pre-commissioning and commissioning readiness activities at the vessel level, interfacing with the Commissioning team to ensure vessel systems are handed over in accordance with the commissioning philosophy.
