Woodside Energy is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Adviser to provide specialist HSE leadership, assurance and practical advisory support across decommissioning activities. This role will support safe planning, execution and close-out of work across offshore facilities, marine and vessel operations, subsea infrastructure, onshore deconstruction, logistics, waste management and disposal interfaces. Reporting to the Health and Safety Team Lead, the Adviser will work closely with decommissioning project and asset leadership, contractors and functional teams. The role will act as a Health and Safety Subject Matter Expert across Safety, Health, Process Safety, Human Factors, Investigations and Golden / Life Safety Rules, influencing outcomes through leadership engagement, assurance, coaching and constructive challenge. Duties and Responsibilities Provide comprehensive Health and Safety guidance, analysis and practical support to Decommissioning project teams across the full project lifecycle, including planning, readiness, execution and close-out. Work independently to deliver quality Health and Safety outcomes while maintaining strong alignment with project leadership, functional HSE requirements and business priorities. Develop and support implementation of risk-based assurance plans, including targeted site engagements, contractor assurance, critical control verification, field observations and follow-up of findings and actions. Travel to worksites at short notice where required to support assurance, significant or emerging risks, critical execution activities and operational events. Facilitate, challenge and participate in Safety in Design reviews, Decommissioning Discovery Workshops, HAZID / HIRA activities, ALARP assessments, SIMOPS reviews, constructability reviews and task risk assessments. Provide Health and Safety advice for decommissioning hazards and interfaces including marine and vessel operations, subsea work, well and facility isolation, lifting and line-of-fire, hazardous materials, contamination, waste handling, transport, onshore deconstruction and disposal activities. Apply Process Safety Management, Human Factors, occupational health and psychosocial safety principles to the planning and execution of Decommissioning work. Support event reporting, classification, investigation and learning. Lead, facilitate or support investigations when assigned, including the ability to mobilise to site at short notice to preserve evidence, engage personnel and support effective learning. Support emergency preparedness, bridging arrangements, mobilisation readiness and operational readiness reviews for campaigns, vessels, yards and transition activities. Use event, assurance and leading-indicator data to identify trends, communicate performance insights and develop targeted improvement campaigns. Skills and Experience Minimum of 7 years’ experience as a Health & Safety Adviser in the energy industry or a similar high-hazard / heavy industry environment. Tertiary education in occupational health and safety, engineering, science or another field aligned with Woodside’s Health & Safety capability requirements is preferred. Trade, operational, offshore or project delivery experience is an advantage. Previous decommissioning experience is highly desirable, particularly involving offshore facilities, subsea infrastructure, marine spreads, vessels, onshore dismantling, waste management or disposal activities. Formal investigation, auditing and risk-facilitation training is advantageous, with demonstrated experience supporting or leading incident investigations. Demonstrated ability to coach leaders and frontline personnel and to conduct effective Field Leadership conversations in operational environments. Strong problem-solving, analytical and trend-analysis capability, with the ability to translate information into practical risk-reduction actions. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including facilitation and presentation capability. Demonstrated resilience and the ability to manage changing priorities, time-critical activities and short-notice travel requirements. Ability to work independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams across office, offshore, vessel, yard and contractor environments.
