Hot Gas Path (HGP) Design Engineer
to join a highly skilled Fleet Engineering team supporting a global gas turbine fleet. This is an opportunity to apply your expertise in structural analysis, component lifing, and root cause investigations while collaborating with engineering professionals across the world.
In this role, you will serve as a technical expert responsible for ensuring the integrity, reliability, and availability of critical turbine components through advanced engineering analysis and data-driven decision-making.
Key Responsibilities Advanced Structural Analysis
Develop and execute high-fidelity Finite Element Analysis (FEA) models for gas turbine hardware.
Evaluate components under complex thermal and mechanical loading conditions.
Assess component performance and identify potential design improvements.
Component Life Assessment
Perform lifing analyses including:
Low Cycle Fatigue (LCF)
High Cycle Fatigue (HCF)
Creep
Oxidation
Fracture Mechanics
Support component reliability and long-term fleet health initiatives.
Dynamic Analysis & Evaluation
Conduct structural, modal, and forced response analyses.
Develop and interpret Campbell Diagrams.
Evaluate dynamic behavior and vibration characteristics of turbine components.
Root Cause Analysis & Technical Support
Provide rapid technical support for Engineering Requests (ERs) from field and service teams.
Lead or support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations to identify failure mechanisms.
Develop and implement sustainable corrective actions and long-term solutions.
Technical Communication
Present analytical findings and engineering recommendations to internal stakeholders.
Support design reviews through clear, concise, and data-driven presentations.
Collaborate effectively with global engineering teams working across multiple time zones.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
Minimum of
6 years of relevant engineering design experience
.
Minimum of
6 years of Classic ANSYS/Mechanical FEA experience
.
Minimum of
3 years of Siemens NX (CAD) experience
.
Strong understanding of:
Structural analysis
Fatigue and life assessments
Turbomachinery component design
Engineering drawing interpretation
GD&T principles and tolerance stack-up analysis
Experience working with PLM or Teamcenter configuration management systems.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a remote, globally distributed engineering environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Master of Science in Engineering or a related discipline.
Experience supporting gas turbine fleet, service, or aftermarket engineering organizations.
Prior experience leading or supporting Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations.
Experience supporting urgent field issues and engineering service requests.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, services, and operations teams.
