Job Title: E&I Commissioning Engineer / Supervisor Urgent Start required Duration: 8-10 weeks Schedule: Monday-Friday, 10 hours per day Sponsorship Provided: No - EU eligibility essential Location: Brunsbuttel, Germany This opportunity sits with a global EPC contractor supporting the energy transition, with a focus on consulting services across the asset lifecycle and next generation project delivery and execution services. The role is centred on pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up activities for E&I systems, with a strong emphasis on HSSE, system testing and project completions. This position offers the chance to play a key part in delivering safe and structured commissioning outcomes across complex oil and gas, petrochemical or power generation installations. Key Responsibilities: Coordinate, plan and execute E&I pre-commissioning activities in line with the project completions framework. Support a seamless testing, commissioning and start-up process with focus on end user requirements. Accept systems into service and ensure all pre-energisation and post-energisation checks are completed using approved test records. Coordinate vendors during testing and tuning of equipment and instrumentation. Implement project safety management systems during planning and execution of pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up phases. Take responsibility for HSSE performance for personnel and facilities under this position’s control. Participate in development and implementation of detailed execution plans for non-energised and energised testing activities, including schedule and budget integration. Support system and sub-system scoping, commissioning procedures, system testing procedures and SAT coordination. Carry out functional loop checks and instrument function checks of actuated valves. Review redline AFC drawings and facilitate test equipment calibration and certification verification. Assemble loop check field packages and support system-specific risk management and mitigation activities. Review and approve instrument engineering documents prepared for commissioning activities. Provide input into completions documentation, including review and approval of project-specific check sheets and test records. Promote safety and environmental awareness through inductions, training, inspections and site engagement activities. Assist with investigation of incidents, accidents and near misses and support reporting as required. Monitor installation and pre-commissioning activities to ensure alignment with HSE requirements, technical specifications, quality standards and agreed procedures. Monitor material and equipment delivery and verify that storage, preservation and maintenance activities meet vendor requirements. Review contractor documentation including method statements, ITPs, work procedures and working practices for instrument equipment. Prepare commissioning, energisation and testing procedures for relevant instrument equipment and systems. Ensure commissioning activities are organised, scheduled and executed in a structured and safe manner to verify installed systems against design documents and performance requirements. Lead the I&C commissioning team on site and support safe and timely execution of commissioning activities. Interface and coordinate with DCS and automation commissioning personnel. Communicate requirements and timing for instrument materials, resources and external services needed for commissioning. Report daily progress, work scope completion, risks, issues and concerns clearly and promptly. Lead daily execution kick-off meetings and toolbox talks. Support the operations team during start-up activities. Required Education & Certifications: Degree or diploma in Instrument Engineering, or a Journeyman’s Certificate with relevant experience (Required). Required Experience: Strong commissioning-specific experience in power generation, petrochemicals or oil and gas. Professional experience in a commissioning or maintenance role, including completions and commissioning of complex installations. Experience in EPC or EPCM contract environments. Experience leading, supervising and resolving execution issues on a day-to-day basis. Extensive experience using procedures and workflows in project execution. Experience liaising with completions teams to ensure certification and handovers are delivered to schedule. Required Skills: Strong communication and leadership skills. Thorough understanding of risks and technical and commercial issues associated with development and operation of oil and gas facilities. Ability to identify efficiencies in work scope execution methodology and sequencing. Functional knowledge of project discipline systems, design and reporting processes. Strong software skills. Fluent understanding of LOTO process and Permit to Work. Ability to build respect across the workforce and support a high-performance team culture. Knowledge of project completion and certification systems
