Job Family Group: Ethics & Compliance Group Job Description: The Compliance Advisor is a member of the Ethics & Compliance (“E&C”) team supporting Supply, Trading & Shipping (“ST&S”). The role supports execution of the global E&C ST&S compliance framework by helping to deliver technologically advanced efficiencies, tools, and solutions in the areas of surveillance and regulatory compliance. In addition, the role will assist in identifying opportunities to improve reporting and analytics and support broader E&C projects such as investigations, innovation governance and other continuous improvement initiatives. The purpose of the E&C ST&S function is to promote compliance with externally defined laws and regulations, the bp Code of Conduct, Global Trading Guidelines and other internal bp policies and procedures, through the development, implementation and maintenance of a program consistent with the Group E&C strategy. Key accountabilities: The role reports to the Senior Compliance Manager – Strategic Planning, Analytics & Innovation and Biogas and supports delivery of the E&C ST&S program. Key accountabilities include: Support implementation, governance and continuous improvement of compliance systems and tools; Review surveillance outputs and document rationale, actions, escalations and outcomes clearly and accurately; Partner with Technology, E&C, Legal, and other collaborators on system access, testing, defect resolution, control design and change readiness; Maintain and improve E&C ST&S procedures and documentation to promote consistency, transparency and effective knowledge sharing; Support cyber resiliency, GenAI and emerging technology governance activities by identifying relevant E&C risks, documenting control expectations and raising issues as appropriate; Provide practical, risk-based guidance and support to E&C colleagues and business partners on surveillance, monitoring, systems, escalation pathways and compliance processes; Prepare and deliver training, guidance, communications and process materials on relevant E&C topics; and Provide support for BI and E&C T&S inquiries and investigations, as needed. Education: Undergraduate degree or equivalent required. Experience and Job Requirements: Experience in compliance, risk, audit, legal, technology controls, surveillance, monitoring or a related control function within a regulated environment. Understanding of relevant laws, regulations, exchange rules, internal policies and control expectations applicable to trading or other highly regulated business activities. Knowledge of monitoring, analytics, workflow and reporting tools used to identify, assess, document and escalate compliance risks. Experience evaluating and applying emerging technology, including artificial intelligence, automation or machine learning, in support of risk management or control outcomes. Strong analytical and technical skills, with the ability to interpret data, assess issues and document conclusions clearly, accurately and defensibly. Sound judgement, curiosity and problem-solving capability, with the ability to connect operational detail to broader compliance, control and business objectives. Effective communication and partner engagement skills, including the ability to challenge respectfully, explain complex issues and provide pragmatic, risk-based guidance. Ability to manage priorities independently, plan work effectively and deliver high-quality outcomes in a fast-paced, global environment. Cultural and geopolitical awareness, with the ability to collaborate across regions and role model bp’s values and behaviours. Desirable Criteria: Experience developing management information, dashboards, process documentation, job aids, or training materials for compliance or control teams. Experience supporting system implementations, user acceptance testing, access reviews, or control enhancement initiatives. Working knowledge of regulatory expectations applicable to surveillance, recordkeeping, communications monitoring, or market conduct.
