About the role: This is an opportunity for a motivated individual to join the agile, fast-paced and exciting integrated team that provides technical advice for opportunities in Production Management, Depletion Management, Area Development Planning and Exploration to improve production and recovery from oil & gas fields and to identify new opportunities. The successful candidate for this role will drive business value through the consistent application of deep technical and functional expertise using BP workflows, practices, guidelines and toolkits. A skillful understanding and usage of the seismic products linked to an ability to translate those products into a geological description and hydrocarbon habitat whilst collaborating with others are crucial to success. This is a hands‑on technical role suited to someone who brings strong geological and geophysical fundamentals, thrives in collaborative environments, and enjoys shaping subsurface solutions for complex mature fields. What You will Deliver: Contributes to sharing geophysical understanding of the field to a diverse range of stakeholders including broader asset subsurface team. Interprets and analyzes key geophysical products to construct a consistent subsurface description. Identifies maximising technologies and studies that will improve the understanding of the data and integration of these products for reservoir characterization in service of business delivery. Works with client stakeholders to define optimal seismic processing flows and opportunities for improvements. Uses seismic data to review and plan future well targets and underpin a business decision Assesses the data quality of the current seismic data, it’ strengths and weaknesses and works with stakeholders to plan a forward work program that improves data quality enabling business decisions now and in the future What you will need to be successful : Must have educational qualifications: A geoscience degree from a recognised university Minimum years of relevant experience: Minimum of 10+ years’ experience as a geophysicist in oil, gas or exploration, appraisal, development or production which must include experience of seismic processing and seismic analysis Must have experiences/skills (To be hired with): Excellent geoscience and subsurface interpretation and integration skills, demonstrated through understanding of workstation environment using Petrel or equivalent Skilled in the use of rapid interpretation techniques e.g Paleoscan Understanding of seismic processing (pre and post stack) and recent advances A good all-round knowledge of depth conversion, seismic rock property and inversion workflows Exposure to Exploration, appraisal, development and production geoscience in oil and gas assets Delivery of Integrated Subsurface Descriptions Skilled in characterising and communicating subsurface uncertainty and risk using minimal data and taking minimal time to make decisions and conclusions Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. Experience of working in diverse global teams and managing stakeholders A highly collaborative style, able to work with many cultures with a proven track-record of personal delivery whilst working under challenging conditions in a different office environment. Good to have experiences/skills (Can be trained for – learning/on-the-job): Experience in Carbonates Well planning experience from Exploration to Development Leading technical projects Hands-on experience of depth conversion, inversion, seismic processing and seismic rock properties Experience manipulating seismic and other data in and out of Petrel 4D and potential fields experience Contribution or exposure to the development or update of static and dynamic models You will work with: Your line manager will be the bp Area Development Manager You will be based at Mumbai and work from the partner offices. You will work in close collaboration with both bp and partner subsurface and production teams and with bp’s global subsurface technical specialists and subject matte
