NES Fircroft
are partnering with a well established energy organisation that's looking for a Project Director to lead the delivery of major generation and energy infrastructure projects.
Some project roles are about delivering a single project. This one is about leading a portfolio of large scale energy infrastructure projects, paving the way for more generation in the state.
This is a senior leadership position, responsible for overseeing a team of Project Managers while ensuring projects are delivered safely, commercially and in line with stakeholder expectations.
The Role
This role sits across both project development and project delivery.
You'll be involved from the early stages of project definition, business cases and investment approvals through to construction, commissioning and asset handover. Along the way you'll be managing project teams, contractors, budgets, schedules, governance requirements and executive stakeholders.
It's a role that needs someone comfortable operating at both the strategic and delivery level. One day you might be presenting to executives or supporting investment decisions, the next you're helping remove roadblocks on a critical infrastructure project.
Key Responsibilities
Lead a portfolio of major energy infrastructure projects.
Manage and mentor a team of Project Managers and delivery professionals.
Oversee project governance, budgets, schedules, risk and commercial performance.
Support project development activities including business cases and investment approvals.
Manage large-scale contracts, contractors and key delivery partners.
Engage with senior executives, government bodies, regional stakeholders and industry partners.
Key Experience
Extensive experience delivering major infrastructure, utilities, energy or power projects.
Demonstratable leadership experience managing project delivery teams.
Background within the power, utilities or related infrastructure sectors.
Proven ability to manage complex projects involving multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
Experience developing business cases, executive papers and governance documentation.
Excellent commercial, risk management and financial management capability.
Why This Role?
What makes this opportunity different is the mix of complexity, visibility and influence.
You'll have ownership of projects that matter, access to senior decision-makers, and the chance to shape how large-scale infrastructure projects are developed and delivered. It's the sort of role that suits someone who has already run major projects and is looking for a broader leadership position where they can influence outcomes across an entire portfolio, not just a single asset.
If you'd like to discuss the role in confidence, get in touch with me on [email protected]. Happy to talk through the projects, team structure and broader opportunity before you commit to anything.
