Project Engineer – Long?Term Contract | Calgary Working with our valued midstream client, we are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to support the engineering delivery of a major facilities project. This is a long?term contract role based in Calgary (Monday–Friday, non?rotation). The Project Engineer will provide technical oversight across assigned scopes, ensuring engineering quality, regulatory compliance, and alignment with project cost and schedule objectives. The role requires strong coordination with engineering service providers, fabricators, vendors, internal SMEs, and construction/CSU teams. Key Responsibilities Oversee engineering activities to ensure designs are safe, operable, maintainable, and compliant with codes, standards, and regulatory requirements. Support the Project Manager in ensuring engineering deliverables meet schedule, cost, and quality requirements for fabrication and construction. Review and, where required, approve engineering deliverables, procedures, templates, and contract schedules. Provide technical input into Stage Gate packages and project documents such as DBM, Project Execution Plan, and Construction Execution Plan. Liaise with regulatory personnel to ensure applications, permits, and approvals align with the project design basis and regulatory constraints. Contribute technical input to cost estimates, project schedules, and cost?saving initiatives related to concept selection and execution strategy. Engage internal stakeholders regarding upcoming RFPs and support technical evaluation requirements. Work with the Project Quality Lead on RFP development, shop quality audits, technical reviews, vendor award, kick?off meetings, and third?party inspection. Maintain project logs (RFI, NCR, ECN) and support change management to minimize cost and schedule impacts. Lead technical development for engineering services, equipment, and material scopes for bid packages; conduct technical evaluations. Coordinate EWP issuance with engineering service providers to meet scope and schedule requirements. Support construction, fabrication shop visits, and field implementation of the design. Participate in risk mitigation planning related to scope, cost, and schedule. Support commissioning and start?up activities, including resolution of technical issues and oversight of the Ready?for?Operations punch list. Contribute to project close?out and continuous improvement of engineering practices. Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Engineering; registered or eligible for P.Eng (P.L.Eng considered). Minimum 10 years of industry experience. Strong understanding of multi?discipline engineering for oil and gas projects. Technical depth in facilities and process engineering. Experience with gas processing facility projects, including EPF components. FEED and detailed engineering experience (pre? and post?FID). Mix of greenfield and brownfield project experience. Collaborative, team?oriented, and effective working with SMEs and engineers. Valid driver’s license. Periodic travel required (up to one week at a time). Experience with both Engineering Service Providers and Owner organizations preferred.
