We are partnering with our client, a respected organization in the Oil and Gas sector, to appoint a Mechanical / Piping Engineer to join our client's team in Chennai on a contract basis. This is a key role supporting engineering, procurement, construction supervision, and commissioning activities for complex infrastructure such as liquid storage terminals, tank farms, marine jetties and pipelines, with a strong emphasis on safety, quality and statutory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and execute mechanical and piping works from engineering through commissioning.
Review P&IDs, piping layouts, isometrics, GA drawings, support drawings and vendor documentation.
Coordinate installation of piping, valves, pumps, tanks, pressure vessels and utility systems.
Support storage tanks, pipeline and marine jetty mechanical works including loading arms and associated equipment.
Supervise fabrication, welding, fit-up, erection, alignment, bolting and mechanical completion.
Ensure QA/QC through WPS/PQR compliance, material traceability, NDT, hydrotesting, flushing and preservation.
Ensure HSE compliance with lifting, hot work, confined space entry and PTW requirements.
Coordinate contractors, vendors, procurement, QA/QC, planning and multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Monitor progress, prepare engineering reports and support cost and schedule control.
Support pre-commissioning, commissioning, punch list closure, as-built documentation and project handover.
Knowledge of API, ASME, ASTM, OISD, IS, NFPA and PESO standards.
Piping engineering, stress awareness, welding, NDT, hydrotesting and mechanical completion.
Storage tanks, pumps, valves, loading arms and pipeline systems.
Software: AutoCAD, Plant 3D (preferred), Caesar II awareness, SAP, Primavera/MS Project, MS Office.
