Position Overview KBR is seeking a Cloud & Workflow Automation Engineer in Sioux Falls, SD, to support the USGS Earth Resources Observation and Science (EROS) Center. This is a full-time, onsite position requiring consistent, in-person collaboration with team members, scientists, and mission partners. This position supports the General Processing Control System, the platform responsible for orchestrating mission-critical workflows and operational services that enable Landsat data processing. The successful candidate will help develop, maintain, and modernize cloud-native applications, workflow automation services, and operational software systems supporting Earth observation missions. Design, develop, and maintain workflow automation and orchestration services Develop and support production applications using Python and Bash scripting Design, deploy, and maintain Argo Workflows operating within Kubernetes environments Develop and support cloud-native applications and services Build and enhance operational user interfaces using Angular, TypeScript, and JavaScript Support CI/CD pipeline implementation and automation initiatives Develop software that interfaces with PostgreSQL databases Troubleshoot workflow, orchestration, infrastructure, and application issues Participate in software planning, design reviews, and technical discussions Develop, execute, and document testing activities Collaborate closely with Systems Engineers, Software Engineers, DevOps practitioners, and mission stakeholders Education & Skills Education Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline. Experience Seven or more years of professional software engineering experience Experience developing and maintaining Python-based applications Experience working in Kubernetes environments Experience supporting cloud-native systems and deployment pipelines Experience working in Linux/Unix environments Required Skills Strong Python development experience Strong Bash scripting expertise Kubernetes administration and application deployment experience Experience developing and supporting Argo Workflows PostgreSQL database experience, queries and writing software to interact with databases Linux/Unix expertise Experience with Git-based source control management Understanding of CI/CD concepts and implementation Strong troubleshooting and systems integration skills Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a highly skilled technical team Desired Skills Angular development experience TypeScript and JavaScript expertise AWS cloud experience AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification or ability to obtain within six months of hire Infrastructure as Code experience DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering practices Scientific, geospatial, or mission-critical operational systems experience Experience with AI-assisted software development and documentation tools Special Requirements Three years of continuous residency in the United States for issuance of a Government Security credential Ability to obtain and maintain a national agency check and background investigation for facility access Experience and/or Education in lieu of these qualifications will be reviewed for applicability to meet these requirements.
