Location: Taupo and Taranaki Regions
This is a unique opportunity to work on New Zealand's most exciting energy projects within the rapidly growing geothermal industry in the Taupo region (including New Zealand's pioneering Superhot geothermal exploration project) as well as other renewable geothermal projects and conventional oil and gas energy work.
The Opportunity:
In this even time roster role with projects expected to continue for at least the next two years, we are seeking an experienced Rig Mechanic to support a range of high-profile energy projects across Taranaki and Taupo. The role will contribute to drilling and exploration operations while working with leading energy operators. A particular highlight will be involvement in the Superhot geothermal exploration project, a groundbreaking first-of-its-kind initiative in New Zealand.
The role will involve inspection, servicing, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and overhaul of drilling rig equipment, machinery, vehicles and associated mechanical systems. You will perform preventative and corrective maintenance, diagnose hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical faults, support operational requirements, maintain accurate maintenance records and ensure all work is completed safely and in compliance with New Zealand health, safety and environmental requirements.
You must have:
• Trade qualification in Mechanics, Diesel Mechanics, Heavy Automotive Engineering or similar discipline.
• Strong diesel engine, hydraulic and rotating equipment experience.
• Advanced mechanical fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
• Current New Zealand driver licence.
Highly Desirable:
Previous experience in drilling, geothermal, oil and gas, mining, marine or heavy industrial environments; experience maintaining mud pumps, top drives, drawworks or heavy mobile plant; experience working in rotational or remote site environments is preferred.
We can only look at those with the current legal right to live and work in NZ.
