NES Fircroft are supporting our valued client who are recruting a Senior Systems Engineer on a 12-month contract based in their Perth office, with adhoc travel.
Are you ready to take a leading role in one of the most innovative and impactful projects in the energy sector? Join us as a BCCS Senior Systems Engineer, based in our Perth office, where you will oversee and drive the complete system engineering scope of a pioneering CCS (Carbon Capture and Storage) project. This role is vital in defining, integrating, verifying, and managing a cutting-edge CCS system that meets the highest standards of safety, technical integrity, quality, reliability, operability, cost, and schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead system-wide engineering assurance activities, including HAZOP, LOPA, SIL, and operability reviews, ensuring all risks at interfaces are identified and managed.
Define control and operating bases for CCS systems, integrating topsides ICSS, subsea control systems, injection wells, and third-party interfaces.
Manage system-level requirements, impurity management philosophies, and verification strategies across all phases.
Provide technical guidance and leadership to ensure operability, technical integrity, and regulatory compliance.
Participate and guide technical reviews, risk assessments, and interface management with contractors and stakeholders.
Support operations teams with developing operational philosophies aligned with system design.
Foster collaboration across multidisciplinary and multicultural teams to achieve project goals.
Required Skills:
Extensive expertise in system engineering within oil and gas, LNG, or CCS industries with a strong process engineering background.
Proficiency in HAZID, HAZOP, and LOPA processes.
Deep understanding of CO2 systems, including dense phase and gaseous CO2 behaviors, impurity specifications, transient operations, and containment assurance.
Strong knowledge of control and safety systems, including ICSS architecture and integration of topsides, subsea, and well control systems.
Proven experience in requirements management, interface coordination, verification and validation, and configuration control.
Excellent communication and influencing skills to lead without direct authority and collaborate effectively.
Strong systems-thinking with proactive problem-solving capabilities under pressure.
Nice to Have Skills:
Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or equivalent professional registration.
Experience in early-phase engineering, concept selection, and FEED methodologies.
Exposure to flow assurance and testing related to complex CCS or gas developments.
Experience working with diverse project stakeholders including emitters, subsurface, and facility teams.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Bachelor of Engineering, ideally in Chemical or Process Engineering.
10+ years’ relevant industry experience with demonstrated progression into senior system engineering roles on complex developments.
Other Requirements:
Willingness to travel to contractor, manufacturing, fabrication sites, and engineering/testing facilities as necessary.
Commitment to the highest standards of Occupational Health and Safety, quality, and environmental stewardship.
