Job Description - Senior Civil/ Structural Engineer - Onshore Title: Senior Civil/ Structural Engineer - Onshore Company: KBR - Inhouse Engineering Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE - KBR Office Job Purpose We are seeking an experienced Senior Civil / Structural Engineer to join our engineering team in the UAE, with primary responsibility for the preparation, checking, review, and technical development of civil and structural engineering calculations for oil and gas and industrial projects. The successful candidate will have strong practical design experience across a broad range of reinforced concrete, structural steel, foundations, earthworks, industrial structures, buildings, equipment supports, and temporary works. The role requires the ability to independently develop technically robust design solutions, prepare detailed calculations, and provide engineering justification in accordance with project specifications and applicable international standards. Key Responsibilities Prepare complete and accurate civil and structural calculations for a wide range of elements, including but not limited to: Steel structures (pipe racks, shelters, platforms, equipment supports, buildings) Concrete structures and foundations (equipment foundations, pile caps, rafts, pedestals, retaining walls) Dynamic and static analysis of structures and equipment supports Underground facilities, culverts, trenches, roads and paving Undertake calculations for both new-build and modification/revamp projects. Review existing structures and assess their suitability for new or modified loading conditions. Ensure all calculations comply with relevant international codes and standards (AISC, ACI, BS, Eurocodes, ASCE, API, etc.) and client specifications (ADNOC, ARAMCO or equivalent). Review calculations prepared by engineers and designers and provide technical guidance where required. Ensure calculations are coordinated with drawings, specifications, equipment data, piping requirements, and other discipline inputs. Experience Minimum 10–12 years of experience in Civil/Structural engineering within the oil & gas or petrochemical sector. Proven experience across FEED, Detailed Engineering, EPC, Construction support, brownfield modification phases. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering. Master’s degree in Structural Engineering, or a related discipline will be considered an advantage. Technical Skills Strong working knowledge of onshore oil & gas Civil & Structural design: foundations (including raft/pile design), drainage systems, steel and RC structures, pipe racks, and equipment support structures. Proficiency with relevant design software (STAAD Pro, SAP2000, SAFE,Mat3d, ETABS). Strong technical leadership, engineering assurance, risk identification, quality control, communication and multidisciplinary coordination skills.
