Technology Procurement is part of bp's Procurement organisation and is responsible for delivering sourcing, supplier management, and procurement operations that enable safe, compliant, and cost-effective business delivery. The function works closely with business customers, category teams, suppliers, and operational procurement teams to ensure that goods and services are sourced efficiently while maximising commercial value and handling risk. 3. Role & Key Accountabilities Key Accountabilities Tactical Sourcing Leadership Serve as the functional SME for material demand sourcing activities across multiple Upstream regions. Provide expert guidance and coaching to buyers on sourcing strategies, RFx execution, supplier engagement, negotiations, and commercial evaluations. Lead resolution of complex procurement scenarios and regional sourcing challenges. Act as first point of escalation for sourcing-related process, supplier, and customer issues. End-to-End Sourcing Execution Support demand validation, sourcing strategy selection, RFx execution, supplier evaluation, award recommendation, and sourcing compliance activities. Ensure sourcing activities are aligned with procurement policies, preferred supplier lists, delegated authority requirements, and category guidance. Review complex sourcing requests and provide recommendations on supplier selection and commercial decisions. Support market engagement activities to increase competitive bidding opportunities and value delivery. Regional Portfolio Management Handle sourcing governance across multiple Upstream regions and ensure consistent execution standards. Provide cross-regional backup coverage and support business continuity requirements. Monitor demand pipelines and identify workload balancing opportunities across teams. Drive standardization of sourcing practices across geographies and collaborator groups. Supplier & Collaborator Engagement Build effective relationships with business requestors, engineers, operations teams, category managers, suppliers, and procurement partners. Facilitate supplier discussions, clarification meetings, and issue resolution activities. Support strategic customer conversations to improve sourcing outcomes and user experience. Promote procurement compliance and sourcing guidelines within the business. Governance, Quality & Compliance Act as custodian of standard operating procedures, sourcing controls, audit requirements, and process adherence. Conduct quality reviews of sourcing events, award documentation, and transactional outputs. Ensure compliance with procurement policy, sourcing procedures, ethical sourcing standards, and internal controls. Support internal audits, control testing, and corrective action management. Continuous Improvement & Capability Building Identify process simplification, automation, and standardization opportunities. Lead knowledge-sharing sessions and maintain process documentation. Support onboarding and training of new team members. Champion digital tools, reporting solutions, and sourcing effectiveness initiatives. Operational Performance Management Monitor sourcing KPIs, cycle times, service levels, and compliance metrics. Support leadership with operational insights, reporting, and performance reviews. Analyse sourcing demand trends and recommend improvement actions. Drive service excellence through proactive issue identification and resolution. 4. Qualifications, Competencies & Attitude Technical Skills & Experience Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in engineering, Management, Commerce, or related field Minimum 7+ years of procurement, sourcing, or supply chain experience with overall 12-13 years of work experience. Strong understanding of Source-to-Contract (S2C) and Procure-to-Pay (P2P) processes. Experience handling material procurement activities in complex global environments. Confirmed knowledge of RFx management, supplier evaluation, commercial assessment, and negotiations. Strong customer management and influencing skills. Experience working across multiple regions and time zones. Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Preferred Oil & Gas, Energy, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Technical Procurement experience. Knowledge of Upstream operations and material buying (DIRECT) requirements. Experience with Ariba, SAP, Guided Buying, Sourcing platforms, and procurement analytics tools. Lean, Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement, or Process Excellence exposure.
