, Netherlands Job Family Group: Trading Jobs Worker Type: Regular Posting Start Date: September 8, 2026 Business Unit: Trading and Supply Experience Level: Experienced Professionals Job Description: What’s the role As a DLNG Trader, you will be responsible for the profitable execution and optimization of all SLMT DLNG positions. This includes building and trading around portfolio flows, identifying and capturing new market opportunities, and actively managing both physical and financial positions across the short-term trading horizon. You will participate in the trading of physical and financial energy commodities, including crude oil, natural gas, LNG, and environmental products. Leveraging market fundamentals, analytics, and commercial insight, you will make informed trading decisions that balance value creation with effective risk management. The role plays a key part in developing and managing a successful trading portfolio, generating value through a combination of customer flow optimization, supply and sourcing arrangements, product development, market opportunities, proprietary trading strategies, and disciplined risk management practices. What you’ll be doing Secure and execute Marine LNG supply transactions with both internal and external counterparties. Collaborate with the team to develop and deliver the DLNG commercial and trading strategy over a rolling three-year horizon. Structure and negotiate long-term LNG agreements while proactively managing and mitigating risks and issues arising from complex contractual arrangements. Lead DLNG trading strategy and execution within a three-year horizon, while contributing to longer-term origination initiatives and portfolio growth opportunities. Build, maintain, and strengthen strategic relationships with key third-party counterparties, internal stakeholders, SLMT, and other Trading & Supply teams. Gather, analyze, and share market intelligence to support commercial decision-making and enhance global market insights. Optimize the existing trading portfolio and manage global arbitrage opportunities, while identifying and developing new value-accretive business opportunities. Manage complex price exposures with accuracy and discipline, including the execution and optimization of associated financial hedging activities. Assume end-to-end ownership of deal profitability throughout the transaction lifecycle, including pre-deal due diligence, trade execution, deal entry, contract management, operational oversight, credit and payment issue resolution, and stakeholder coordination. Maintain oversight of the SWLNG risk position and work closely with Mid Office to ensure timely resolution of risk, control, and reporting issues. Deliver the financial performance and P&L objectives of SWLNG, SLMT's small-scale LNG trading business in Europe, in alignment with agreed commercial targets. Provide coaching, guidance, and development support to schedulers, and analysts, fostering capability growth across the team. Ensure full compliance with the Shell Trading Compliance Manual, Code of Conduct, and all applicable regulatory and governance requirements. Manage and optimize capacity utilization at the GATE Terminal to maximize commercial value and operational flexibility. Develop and strengthen the interface with SEEL (Gas and Biomethane Trading) and LCF (FEUM/RED) to unlock synergies and support strategic objectives. Drive the development, implementation, and optimization of the RED III strategy for the European DLNG portfolio, ensuring alignment with evolving regulatory requirements and commercial opportunities.
