About the role Lead and oversee customer credit, cash collection and trade loan activities for the supported Fuels business. The role manages credit risk exposure and working capital by balancing risk and reward, applying sound business judgement, and ensuring compliance with the Downstream Credit Policy. It also builds team capability, supports operational excellence and change, and partners with business and finance stakeholders to deliver effective credit outcomes. In this role You will Control and monitor credit analysis, cash collection and trade loan activities, and provide accurate and timely management information. Support credit strategy by analysing portfolio performance, reporting findings to senior management, recommending actions and monitoring implementation. Manage credit activities for the supported countries, including credit reviews, risk ratings, credit limits, payment terms, blocked orders, credit notes, bad debt provisions and write-offs within delegated authority. Approve credit limits within delegated authority and escalate cases above authority with clear, reasoned recommendations to senior management. Maintain effective business partnerships with Sales Directors, Finance leaders, Credit leadership, Service Management, Legal, collection teams and other FBT teams to improve working capital and customer outcomes. Understand business requirements, market developments and bp risk appetite; evaluate credit-related sales requests, process changes and risk mitigations, and develop solutions that balance business needs, credit risk and workload. Drive policy compliance, operational reviews, due diligence, health checks, audit readiness, continuous improvement and standardisation across customer credit, cash collection and trade loan processes. Support ERP and digital developments, including S/4HANA implementation, automation opportunities and consistent application of credit standards in day-to-day operations. Lead monthly and quarterly reporting and analyse overdue trends, DSO, bad debt provisions, turnover and gross margin; identify root causes and recommend actions to improve overdue performance and mitigate risk. Lead or support transitions and strategic, operational or system-related credit projects; coordinate requirements, communicate with governance bodies and participate in steering groups where relevant. Coach and develop team members in technical and interpersonal skills, coordinate team activities, and maintain effective resource and backup arrangements. Participate in customer visits and operational activities when required. What You will need to be successful University degree or equivalent experience, preferred in Economics or a related field, or secondary school graduation in Economics. Experience in customer relationship management, accounts receivable, cash collection or credit management in an international environment, with a proven record of ownership and decision-making responsibility. Deep finance and credit analysis experience, with a strong credit management background gained in banking, financial services or a blue-chip corporate credit environment. Experience leading, guiding, coaching and developing people. Ability to manage sophisticated situations while maintaining an appropriate balance between customer and business priorities. Ability to produce consistently high-quality, relevant, complete, accurate and timely information within tight deadlines. Proficiency in interpreting financial and accounting information and applying this knowledge to credit decisions. Knowledge of internal controls, due diligence, performance management, project delivery and organisational change.
