Job Family Group: Operations Group Job Description: The Instrument & Electrical Technician supports maintenance and project activities across electrical and instrumentation systems, working closely with operations, engineering teams, contractors, and service providers to deliver safe, reliable, and efficient outcomes. The role contributes to planning, execution, commissioning, and continuous improvement initiatives, while supporting project delivery, maintenance activities, and safe work preparation throughout the project lifecycle. Responsibilities: Demonstrate a visible commitment to BP's Safety Leadership Principles and Life Saving Rules. Ensure all activities are performed in accordance with site safety, environmental and operational requirements. Conduct field inspections and plant walkdowns to support project development activities. Assist engineers with scope development and field verification. Review drawings, P&IDs, loop drawings, cable schedules and technical documentation. Implement preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance activities on electrical and instrumentation equipment. Provide technical support for troubleshooting and fault-finding activities. Support development and implementation of isolation plans. Perform electrical and instrumentation isolations in accordance with site procedures. Verify safe work conditions and prepare equipment for contractor access. Qualifications: Trade qualification in Instrumentation, Electrical or Dual Trade field Current WA Electrical Workers Licence. Strong experience in a refinery, oil and gas, or similar heavy industrial environment. Proven expertise in electrical and instrumentation maintenance and troubleshooting. Strong understanding of preventive and corrective maintenance practices. Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, P&IDs and engineering documentation. Experience working within permit-to-work and isolation management systems. Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills. High Voltage (HV) Switching knowledge and/or authorised switching experience. Experience supporting brownfield projects and major capital works. Knowledge of PLC, DCS, SIS and industrial communication networks. SAP maintenance management system experience. Hazardous Area (EEHA) inspection and maintenance experience.
