About the role Responsible for assisting businesses by providing industrial hygiene (IH) guidance, implementation plans, and delivery support to ensure compliance with the IH requirements of OMS 3.4 and the health-related aspects of OMS. The role is responsible for developing and delivering the business's industrial hygiene practices, while establishing, maintaining, and embedding IH procedures and standards in accordance with local legal and regulatory requirements, OMS, Group and Segment practices, and risk action plans. Additionally, the position provides self-verification of IH compliance programs and OMS industrial hygiene conformance plans, and develops intervention strategies based on industrial hygiene performance trends as well as new or emerging workplace risks. Location: Houston, TX or Chicago, IL based. Work Arrangement: Hybrid (60% office / 40% remote) Travel Requirements: Up to 50% travel Summary Decision Rights Recommend on IH aspects of annual H&S Plan to the business HSE&C manager. Decide on priorities of annual IH monitoring plan. Perform and/or oversee execution of plan if business lacks embedded IH resources. Recommend on IH risk prioritization as part of annual 3.1 review. Develop policies and processes to address risks as appropriate. Recommend and conduct exposure assessment, PPE, training as appropriate. Minimum Requirements Industrial Hygienist with professional accreditation according to a Certification Scheme recognized by the International Occupational Hygiene Association (IOHA), and a confirmed experience in the difficulty of Industrial Hygiene. Job Qualifications Advising on continuously improving HSE related performance Provide technical expertise and timely information to Health Hub Lead / line management on the ongoing performance of work-related health risk management programs, including new and evolving IH legislation and/or company standards. Provide appropriate professional response to health-related incidents and support and advise on health-related incident investigations. Provide IH support and direction to employees, line management, HR, Legal, HSE&C professionals, and the Leadership team. Interpret IH risk prioritization and apply rational and balanced needs against budgetary demands. Provide technical input to third party IH contract management process as needed Provide IH support as appropriate to product stewardship activities, up and down the supply chain. Conducting HSE related self-verification and supporting self-verification plans Participate in compliance verification and audit activities at site, business or segment level as appropriate. Issuing and maintaining HSE related procedures and guidance Support exposure assessment of work-related health risks associated with chemical, physical, biological and ergonomic hazards and advise line management on suitable risk prevention or control measures and ongoing risk management strategy. Develop & manage systematic programs to monitor performance and effectiveness of workplace health risk control and management systems where appropriate. Develop IH Policies & Processes for the entity to support compliance with health and safety regulations, and conformance with bp requirements. Integrate any necessary industrial hygiene practice into Site/Business/Segment level Operating Management System where appropriate. Identify, monitor, and prioritize IH aspects of emerging health issues. Conducting HSE related activities in support of OMS conformance and HSE regulatory compliance Maintain appropriate and accurate records within ethical and data protection boundaries. Develop relationships with regulators and relevant public health bodies.
