Technical Program Manager – Advanced Engineering and Prototyping Technical Program Manager – Advanced Engineering and Prototyping Lexington Park, MD As Technical Program Manager, you will lead KBR's specialized engineering lab in Lexington Park, MD, focused on rapid prototyping, advanced manufacturing, technology integration, and reverse engineering. You will guide the technical vision, engineering execution, and growth of a highly skilled team that transforms concepts into operationally relevant solutions. By combining engineering expertise with advanced manufacturing tools, digital design technologies, and innovative problem-solving approaches, the team delivers mission-critical capabilities with speed, quality, and precision. Role & Responsibilities: Technical Leadership, Development & Innovation: Serve as the Chief Engineer and senior technical authority for advanced aviation, defense, and technology development programs. Provide strategic leadership across concept development, requirements definition, system architecture, design, integration, testing, evaluation, and transition to production or operational deployment. Establish engineering vision, maintain technical rigor, and serve as the final authority on complex technical decisions, balancing mission requirements, risk, cost, schedule, and operational considerations. Lead the development, maturation, and transition of advanced technologies, prototypes, and next-generation capabilities. Evaluate emerging technologies, shape technology roadmaps, and identify opportunities to address evolving customer mission requirements. Laboratory & Operational Leadership: Provide leadership and oversight of engineering laboratory, integration facility, and test environments supporting advanced development efforts. Direct test planning, demonstrations, capability development, laboratory operations, workforce planning, resource allocation, and infrastructure investments. Champion modernization initiatives, including digital engineering, modeling and simulation, and advanced engineering toolsets. Engineering & Program Execution: Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams through the full systems engineering lifecycle while ensuring successful execution of multiple concurrent engineering, RDT&E, product development, and technical services efforts. Oversee requirements analysis, architecture development, trade studies, design reviews, integration, verification, validation, qualification testing, technical documentation, and contractual deliverables to achieve program objectives and customer satisfaction. Customer Engagement, Growth & Business Development: Represent the organization as a trusted technical advisor to customers, industry partners, and senior leadership. Partner with business development and capture teams to identify, shape, and pursue new opportunities across engineering services, advanced technology development, and defense solutions. Serve as a technical lead for capture efforts and proposal development while cultivating strategic partnerships and expanding organizational capabilities, customer relationships, and growth opportunities. Lead technical interchange meetings, design reviews, risk assessments, and other customer-facing activities while ensuring engineering solutions align with mission objectives, contractual commitments, and business priorities. Basic Qualifications Active Secret clearance BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related discipline. 12+ years of engineering leadership experience. Experience supporting NAVAIR, NAWCAD, or other DoD aviation programs. Systems engineering experience from concept through integration and testing. Experience with hardware development, avionics, mission systems, test systems, or aerospace platforms. Knowledge of Digital Engineering, MBSE, Modeling & Simulation, or advanced development technologies. Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting business development and capture activities. PE License. Master's degree. Experience with AS9100 or ISO 9001 environments. Experience leading IRAD efforts. Experience with additive manufacturing, digital engineering, or advanced prototyping. Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 hours/week. Compensation: $155,000-$233,000. The salary range posted is based on the national average. The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s location, knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience, contract affordability, and in consideration of internal parity. Additional Compensation: KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of a sign-on bonus, relocation benefits, short-term incentives, long-term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
