Position Title: JS.CRO.049 Court Reporting Officer Grade: NJS09 The National Judicial Staff Services (NJSS) has undertaken a major organisational restructure aimed at strengthening its workforce and enhancing the delivery of efficient, effective and quality support services to the Judiciary and the courts throughout Papua New Guinea. NJSS therefore invites applications from suitably qualified, experienced and motivated Papua New Guineans for the positions advertised below. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to contribute to the important work of supporting the Judiciary and strengthening the delivery of justice across the country. Join a dedicated team supporting the integrity of our legal system through precise transcription, quality review, and seamless coordination with judicial and registry staff. What You’ll Bring to the Role: Diploma in Office Administration or equivalent certification in court reporting service Proficiency in legal terminology and court procedures Strong command of English grammar, spelling, punctuation, and syntax Ability to type at 60 words per minute with an error rate no greater than 2% Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to confidentiality Effective communication skills and problem-solving aptitude Ability to perform diligently under pressure and adapt to dynamic courtroom environments Familiarity with audio recording technology Bonus Skills That Will Set You Apart: Advanced Diploma in a related discipline Three or more years of experience in a legal or court setting Prior involvement in quality control of transcripts Experience troubleshooting FTR (Full Trial Record) systems Proven capability to undertake National Court circuit assignments Preferred Education & Experience: An advanced diploma qualification in a related discipline is highly desirable Experience of three or more years in legal administration, transcription, or court reporting Additional Requirements: Flexibility to attend National Court circuits and regional relief duties as assigned Willingness to engage in continuous professional development to enhance your skills Strict adherence to confidentiality and judicial staff policies Join us in delivering excellence and upholding the sanctity of courtroom proceedings through precise and reliable court reporting.
