Chemist II $32 - $36/hr with medical benefits available at a cost 1 year initial contract with possibility of extension 100% onsite in North Chicago, IL Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with occasional weekend work hours. Orion Project Services has teamed up once again with a market-leading pharmaceutical company on an exciting contract opportunity. We are seeking an experienced Chemist II to join a collaborative laboratory team in North Chicago, IL. In this role, you will plan and execute laboratory studies, generate reliable and reproducible data, develop testing protocols, and support high-quality, GxP-compliant scientific work. This opportunity is ideal for a skilled analytical chemist with hands-on experience using HPLC, GC, LC/MS, UV/VIS, ICP, and chromatography data systems such as Empower, OpenLab, or Chromeleon. The position offers a competitive rate of $32–$36 per hour, medical benefits available at a cost, and an initial one-year contract with the possibility of extension. This is a fully onsite role working Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional weekend hours. Chemist II Responsibilities: Plan and execute assigned laboratory tasks utilizing standard procedures and technical understanding of various techniques to complete assigned tasks. Independently generate precise, reliable and reproducible data in a timely manner. Document the experimentation per the regulatory requirements. Demonstrate experimental precision and strong data interpretation skills and should possess understanding of core discipline. Develop protocols for more complex tests or experiments performed with less defined assays and parameters. Ensures safety and GxP requirements are met when performing tasks. Ensures timely and GxP compliant delivery of high-quality precise data. Apply basic computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and instrument related systems. Presents findings of defined experiments to larger audiences. Requirements/Qualifications: BS/BA in Chemistry, Chemical Engineer, Biochemistry, Medical Technology, Biology or related field with minimum 5 yrs lab experience (pharmaceutical industry preferred) or master’s degree with minimum 2 yrs lab experience (pharmaceutical industry preferred). Experienced use of analytical instruments including HPLC, GC, LC/MS, and chromatography data systems (i.e., Empower, Openlab, Chromeleon). Strong documentation skills, familiarity of GMP, GLP. Able to present experimental findings to larger groups. Strong communication skills.
