The Opportunity As a Principal Mechanical Engineer in our Building Services team, you will play a key leadership role in the delivery of complex major Defence, Buildings and Infrastructure projects nationally. You will lead the mechanical engineering discipline across a diverse portfolio of projects, providing technical direction, design leadership and quality assurance from concept and FEED through to detailed design and project delivery. This role offers the opportunity to influence major projects nationally, while helping shape the growth and technical capability of our Mechanical team. As a recognised technical leader, you will be responsible for driving engineering excellence, managing complex technical challenges and ensuring the delivery of innovative, practical and commercially sound solutions. You will work closely with clients, project managers and multidisciplinary teams to develop strong relationships and deliver successful project outcomes. You will provide mentorship and technical guidance to engineers and designers, contributing to capability development across the broader team. You will be a trusted advisor and technical authority, helping deliver projects that leave a lasting impact on communities and critical infrastructure. Who are you? As a Principal Mechanical Engineer in our buildings team, you will bring extensive experience delivering complex building services projects within defence, commercial, transport, healthcare, industrial, education or major infrastructure sectors. You will have a strong background in HVAC and mechanical building services design, with the ability to lead multidisciplinary project teams and provide strategic technical direction on complex engineering challenges. You will be recognised for your ability to build trusted client relationships, influence project outcomes and deliver high-quality solutions in demanding environments. You will have experience managing technical risk, reviewing and approving engineering deliverables, and ensuring compliance with applicable standards, regulations and client requirements. Exposure to condition assessments, design assurance, safety-in-design principles, equipment selection and major project delivery will be highly regarded. You will have the following skills and experience: Extensive mechanical building services design experience, with strong knowledge of local industry standards, requirements and Australian codes. Proven ability to lead engineering teams and deliver complex projects to scope, budget and programme. Demonstrated experience providing technical leadership, design reviews, quality assurance and mentoring to engineers and designers. Strong client-facing skills, with experience building and maintaining trusted relationships with key stakeholders. Advanced skills with Revit and CAMEL are preferred. Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status, or working towards Chartership with a demonstrated commitment to achieving it. Hold an accredited Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or other relevant discipline. Australian Citizens will only be considered due to Defence project involvement. Who we are?
