Design Engineer

Weatherford are seeking a motivated and innovative Design Engineer to join our Engineering team in Langenhagen, Germany. In this role, you will be responsible for the development, design, testing, and continuous improvement of mechanical cementing products for the global oil and gas industry. Working closely with manufacturing, testing personnel, sales teams, and international customers, you will contribute to the delivery of reliable, high-quality, and cost-effective solutions that meet demanding operational requirements. Responsibilities: Design and develop mechanical cementing products, with a primary focus on centralizers and related downhole tools. Create and maintain 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation. Perform engineering calculations and analyses to support product development and design validation. Design, build, and evaluate prototypes to verify product performance and functionality. Plan, coordinate, and support laboratory and field-testing activities. Collaborate closely with manufacturing teams to improve product quality, manufacturability, and production efficiency. Support continuous improvement initiatives, including product enhancements and cost reduction projects. Provide technical support and engineering consultation to international customers and internal stakeholders. Participate in design reviews, troubleshooting activities, and root cause investigations. Ensure compliance with company standards, customer requirements, and applicable industry specifications. Qualifications: REQUIRED Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related engineering discipline. Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical product design and development. Proficiency in creating 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, and technical documentation. Strong understanding of mechanical design principles and engineering fundamentals. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Good command of German and English, both written and spoken. Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional and international environment. This position is open to candidates who are legally authorized to work in Germany. PREFERRED Experience in the oil and gas industry. Knowledge of cementing products, centralizers, completion equipment, or downhole tools. Proficiency in PTC Creo or comparable 3D CAD software. Experience in prototype development, testing, and product validation activities. Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as stamping, welding, machining, and assembly. Skills: Self-motivated and proactive. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality. Hands-on approach to engineering challenges.
