Job Title: 23789 - Construction Quality Explosive Environment Inspector Duration: ASAP - July 2027 Schedule: 5 days' work per week, 8 hours per day excluding 1 hour lunch break Location: Qidong, China (Shipyard based - Qidong COSCO) Open to China local candidates only (Chinese nationality is required) This opportunity supports the construction phase of an FPSO project within a shipyard environment, with a strong focus on quality inspection, hazardous areas, and explosive atmosphere compliance. The role is centred on ensuring that equipment, structures, and installations meet ATEX, IECEx, and IEC 60079 standards while helping maintain safe and compliant construction activities. This position offers the chance to contribute directly to process safety, inspection quality, and risk reduction across classified areas. Required Education: Diploma in Safety Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field Required Experience: Proven experience in safety inspection and quality control within explosive environments Experience in offshore, oil and gas, or shipbuilding industries, including knowledge of FPSO construction Experience inspecting hazardous area zones during construction and verifying compliance of equipment, wiring, instrumentation, and materials used in classified areas Required Skills: Strong knowledge of hazardous area classification systems including Zone 0, Zone 1, and Zone 2 Strong knowledge of relevant standards and codes including ATEX, IECEx, NEC, and IEC 60079 In-depth understanding of explosion protection techniques and equipment including flameproof enclosures, intrinsic safety, pressurization systems, purge systems, flame arresters, pressure relief systems, and ventilation Ability to maintain detailed inspection records, including reports, non-conformances, corrective actions, and compliance documentation Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations associated with explosive environments Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and mitigate risks associated with explosive atmospheres Technical capability in inspection, testing, commissioning, monitoring, risk management, quality strategy, and process safety leadership Required Certifications: Certification in explosive atmosphere safety standards such as ATEX, IECEx, NEC, or equivalent Preferred Qualifications: Additional certifications in hazardous area classification and explosion protection methods Previous FPSO or offshore construction project experience About Airswift: Airswift is an international workforce solutions provider within the energy, process and infrastructure industries.
