Control System Engineering Specialist

We are looking for an experienced Control Systems Engineering Specialist to support a major Oil & Gas project in Qatar. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise and engineering support during the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) and start-up phases, ensuring a smooth transition and handover to Operations.
Control Systems Engineering Specialist Location: Qatar | Industry: Oil & Gas The role will focus on control systems design reviews, technical troubleshooting, reliability, availability and cybersecurity, while ensuring that project deliverables meet operational requirements for safety, operability, reliability and maintainability throughout the facility's design life cycle.
Key Responsibilities Provide Control Systems Engineering support, including design reviews, technical studies, failure analysis and advanced troubleshooting.
Develop and implement surveillance and maintenance programmes for critical control systems to ensure high standards of reliability, availability and cybersecurity.
Establish and document engineering best practices and recommend initiatives to improve system performance.
Develop work plans and schedules to ensure timely completion of activities and achievement of project KPIs.
Provide specialist technical input to other engineering disciplines and project functions as required.
Monitor and supervise the activities of contractors, consultants and service providers.
Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers in implementing integrity and reliability systems.
Coordinate and facilitate the completion of project tie-in requirements for systems within the area of responsibility. Maintain an issue register, identify critical technical issues and manage potential risks associated with new technologies that may affect project reliability, availability and cybersecurity.
Support high-risk commissioning activities for complex and large-scale projects through system surveillance, control system tuning and optimization.
Provide technical advice and support to Operations and Maintenance teams during commissioning and start-up activities.
Qualifications & Experience A Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required, along with a minimum of 8 years of experience in Control Systems Engineering within the Oil & Gas industry.
Candidates must have expert-level knowledge of Industrial Control Systems, including Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Triconex, CCC control systems and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
Technical & Professional Skills Candidates should be able to work effectively and make sound decisions under high-pressure conditions. Excellent written and spoken English communication skills, strong leadership and people management abilities, good technical problem-solving and analytical skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and SAP are required.
