Senior Planner

We are looking for an experienced Senior Planner to support major Engineering & Construction (E&C) projects in Qatar, with a particular focus on offshore well hookup projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for project planning, scheduling, monitoring and reporting, ensuring that project activities are delivered efficiently and in line with approved schedules, milestones and performance targets.
The role requires strong expertise in Primavera P6, integrated project planning and scheduling, with a sound understanding of offshore Brownfield projects.
Work Location & Conditions The position is based in Doha, Qatar, with possible assignments to project sites, including onshore and offshore locations, within or outside the country. The standard working schedule is five days per week.
Key Responsibilities Provide day-to-day planning support to Project Engineers and Discipline Engineers to ensure the successful and timely delivery of assigned project activities. Develop, maintain and monitor project schedules using Primavera P6, reviewing progress and reporting schedule performance. Prepare and update short-term and medium-term look-ahead plans in coordination with relevant stakeholders. Review and analyse contractors' project schedules, planning procedures and reports, ensuring that milestones are aligned with project objectives. Define, monitor and report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Develop high-level management plans and carry out project delay and variance analysis, including critical path assessments. Identify schedule risks, assess the readiness and achievability of plans, and work closely with project teams to resolve planning and scheduling issues. Prepare planning deliverables, including S-curves, project dashboards, resource histograms and tabulated man-hour reports. Assist activity owners in developing effective and practical plans for assigned activities. Develop integrated Engineering, Procurement, Fabrication and Construction plans at various levels. Act as the primary interface between contractor planning teams and the company project team for EPC projects. Ensure that client planning, reporting and performance measurement requirements are met. Carry out other duties as assigned by the line manager.
Qualifications & Experience A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or an equivalent technical background is required, along with a minimum of 10 years of experience in planning and scheduling within the Oil & Gas industry, particularly involving Oil & Gas installations, project management and well hookup projects. Candidates should have strong knowledge of offshore Brownfield projects and a thorough understanding of planning and scheduling principles.
Technical & Professional Skills Candidates must have extensive hands-on experience with Primavera P6 and demonstrated proficiency in integrated planning environments and processes. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, including critical path and schedule variance analysis, are essential. The role also requires initiative, the ability to proactively identify and communicate issues, and strong interpersonal, communication and coordination skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Access is required.
