Join our team as a Measurement While Drilling Specialist and play a critical role in oil and gas drilling operations. You'll operate sophisticated MWD tools, provide real-time downhole data, and work alongside Directional Drillers to ensure accurate well surveying and monitoring. This hands-on position offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology in a dynamic field environment.
Roles and Responsibilities
Run MWD tools and deliver accurate real-time drilling data including Inclination, Azimuth, At-Bit-Inclination, Toolfaces, GammaRay, and downhole pressure measurements
Test, maintain, and troubleshoot surface and downhole MWD equipment to ensure optimal performance
Rig up and rig down all equipment at well sites, ensuring proper setup and breakdown procedures
Measure tubulars and perform external and internal OTF's (On-The-Fly measurements)
Assemble BHA (Bottom Hole Assembly) with proper understanding of torques, tubulars, and thread sizes
Collaborate closely with Directional Drillers to verify survey and toolface information accuracy and meet client expectations
Complete accurate paperwork throughout the job cycle and produce comprehensive final well reports
Generate final GammaRay and Annulus Pressure plots upon job completion
Transport company equipment (MWD tools, surface kits, muleshoe subs) to and from well sites using company vehicles
Maintain and clean company vehicles to operational standards
Skills and Education
High School Diploma or GED required
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word and Excel)
Strong teamwork abilities with capability to assign and verify work of others
Technical aptitude to provide functional support in field operations
Basic rig knowledge considered an asset (though not required)
Willingness to work extended deployments at remote locations (minimum 20-day continuous assignments)
Flexibility for typical 20/10 rotation schedules with potential for longer deployments based on operational needs
Valid driver's license for transporting company equipment
Accommodation provided at rig location during deployment periods
