Job Title: Welding & NDT Engineer Duration: 12 months (total 3 years) Schedule: Residential Sponsorship Provided: No Location: Beijing, China during the detailed engineering period. After the end of the detailed engineering, Baku, Azerbaijan This opportunity sits within a major onshore gas and condensate development project supporting engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, pre-commissioning and commissioning activities. The role offers broad technical exposure across welding, NDT, QA/QC and EPC delivery, with responsibility for ensuring compliance with project specifications, international standards and HSE requirements. This position will have a direct impact on quality performance, technical assurance and successful project execution across a large-scale international oil and gas environment. Key Responsibilities: Monitor and supervise welding and NDT activities performed by EPC contractors and subcontractors during engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, pre-commissioning and commissioning phases. Review welding and NDT documentation, including fabrication procedures and methodologies, to confirm alignment with contractual and technical requirements. Verify that contractors and subcontractors have the equipment, resources, systems and manpower required to deliver work to the expected quality level and schedule. Provide technical expertise in materials, welding and NDT during FEED, EPC tender and EPC execution phases. Review specifications against internal standards and design basis requirements. Support design reviews, clarification meetings and risk reviews during project delivery and manufacturing activities. Identify technical risks and escalate issues where required. Highlight required design updates and ensure deviations from standard rules and procedures are managed through approved change control processes. Review and approve contractor engineering deliverables for the discipline, including specifications, reports, calculation notes, analyses, drawings, datasheets and technical notes. Participate in the review of project site QA/QC documentation, including QA/QC plans, contractor procedures, construction plans, ITPs and NDT reports, and support implementation at site. Coordinate with QA/QC leadership and provide direction to welding inspectors and supervisors across engineering, procurement, fabrication and construction phases. Support engineering and construction teams on discipline-related technical matters. Demonstrate strong HSE leadership by complying with management system requirements, maintaining safe work practices and reporting anomalies, abnormal conditions and near misses. Required Education & Certifications: Engineer in Mechanical or Structural Engineering, or equivalent (Required) IWE or equivalent welding certification (Required) PCN, COFREND or equivalent NDT certification (Required) Required Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience in oil and gas welding and NDT onshore activities on large-scale international projects Minimum 7 years in a similar role Experience working across EPC project phases Experience supervising and coordinating inspection and supervision teams within a multicultural project environment Required Skills: Strong knowledge of international standards including API, ISO, ASME and IEC Proficiency in inspection methods and NDT Strong leadership, coordination and reporting skills English language skills (Required) Strong understanding of QA/QC systems, technical compliance and HSE requirements About Airswift: Airswift is an international workforce solutions provider within the energy, technology, process and infrastructure industries.
